First prize awarded to Seva sports team at UKAWC tournament
A team of sportsmen and women from the Seva Day Care Service joined more than 50 people from other Day Care centres across the Borough at a sporting challenge organized by the UK Asian Women’s Conference (UKAWC) in Harrow. The event, held to support and encourage people with disabilities and involve them in the community is now in its 21st year, and was attended by the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Nizam Ismail, and reporters from the Harrow Observer. Events across the day included a relay, skittle match and overhead football challenge, plus a vegetarian banquet once all the hard work was over. After the tournament, medals, trophies and t-shirts were presented to all participants by the Mayor. Trophies were handed out by the Mayor to all teams.
The winning team returned to the Day Centre holding aloft their trophy, chanting ‘We won! We won!’ to a chorus of cheers.
